Automatic Cat Laser Toy: Three Modes, Four Angles, Hand-Held Option
Regular price $52.00

Play

Most cats will chase a red dot for longer than you will hold one.

This one holds it for you. Stand it on the floor or a shelf and it moves the dot across the floor on its own, in patterns a cat cannot predict. Three modes, four projection angles, a hand-held mode when you want to steer, and it runs from USB power or four AA batteries (batteries not included).

The laser toy on its own: a white body with small black ears

How it works

It moves the dot so you do not have to

The head turns and sweeps the dot around the floor in irregular circles. Irregular is the point: a dot that repeats is a dot a cat stops chasing.

A dial on the back sets four projection angles, from a tight circle near the base to a wide one across the room.

The details

Quiet, and it stays put

Non-slip pads underneath, so a cat that bats the toy itself does not send it across the room.

The maker says it runs quietly enough to leave on in a bedroom. We have not measured it, so take that as their claim.

Power

Plugged in, or on batteries

Run it from a USB power point and it never goes flat, or put four AA batteries in and move it wherever the cat is. Batteries are not in the box.

Having both means it can live on a shelf by the plug and still come out to the garden room on a wet weekend.

Hand-held

Or pick it up and steer

Switch to the manual setting and it works as an ordinary hand-held laser, for the evenings you want to play rather than watch.

Same rule as any laser in hand: point it at the floor, never at a face.

Good to know

Questions people ask

Is a laser toy safe?

Used sensibly, yes. The automatic mode projects down onto the floor. The rule that matters is the one for every laser: never into eyes, human or animal. The maker does not publish the laser class, so treat it with the same care as any laser pointer and keep it away from children.

Will my cat get frustrated?

This is the fair criticism of laser play: the dot can never be caught. The fix is simple. End each session by tossing a real toy onto the spot where the dot stopped, so the hunt finishes with something in the paws.

Can my dog play with it?

We do not recommend it. Some dogs, herding breeds especially, develop a compulsive habit of chasing lights and shadows that is hard to undo. One photo in the gallery from the maker shows a dog; our advice is cats only.

What batteries does it take?

Four AA, not included. Or run it from USB power and skip batteries entirely.

Can I leave it running while I am out?

We would not. Laser play works best as a session with you nearby to finish it with a real toy, and nothing with a laser should run unattended for hours.

Sizing. Measure your pet nose to base of tail and compare with the measurements in the description. Breed names are a poor guide - two dogs of the same breed can be 4 kg apart.

Washing. Beds and blankets are machine washable unless the description says otherwise. Wash covers separately, warm not hot, and tumble dry low so the filling keeps its shape.

Introducing something new. Change food gradually over about a week, mixing an increasing share of the new food in. Put a new bed where the old one was rather than somewhere better.

Safety. Supervise play with plush and rope toys, and put wand toys away between sessions. No toy is indestructible.
