Interactive toy

Press once and the disc goes. The cat does the rest.

A paw-shaped launcher that flicks a soft plastic disc across the room on one press. Six discs come in the box and they glow in the dark, which is when most cats actually want to hunt.

Why it holds their attention

Because you are not the one moving

A wand toy only works while your arm does. A disc that skids away under the sofa on its own triggers the chase properly, and it keeps going after the cat has worked out where you are standing.

Six discs means you keep launching instead of fetching. They are light, soft and big enough not to be swallowed.

The launcher

USB charged, rounded, one button

It charges over USB, so there are no batteries to keep replacing in a toy that gets used in bursts.

The edges are rounded and the body is drop-resistant, which matters for something that will be dropped.

Good to know

Questions people ask

Are the discs safe if my cat bites one?

They are soft plastic and wide enough not to be swallowed whole, but they are not chew toys. Pick them up after play and replace any that get chewed through the rim.

How far do they go?

Far enough to cross a normal living room. Outdoors they go further and are much easier to lose — the glow helps at dusk.

Do the discs really glow?

They charge under normal room light and glow for a while in the dark. It is a soft glow, not a light source.

Will it work for a dog?

It is sized and weighted for cats. A dog will simply eat the disc.

Sizing. Measure your pet nose to base of tail and compare with the measurements in the description. Breed names are a poor guide - two dogs of the same breed can be 4 kg apart.

Washing. Beds and blankets are machine washable unless the description says otherwise. Wash covers separately, warm not hot, and tumble dry low so the filling keeps its shape.

Introducing something new. Change food gradually over about a week, mixing an increasing share of the new food in. Put a new bed where the old one was rather than somewhere better.

Safety. Supervise play with plush and rope toys, and put wand toys away between sessions. No toy is indestructible.
