How it opens

One panel, four jobs

Unfolded it is 127 cm end to end: a 59 cm backrest panel, a 43 cm seat, and side wings that drop over the edges to catch what comes off them.

Folded it is a flat rectangle with a carry handle, so it lives in the boot rather than taking up a seat when it is not in use.

Waterproof oxford, so a wet coat pools on the surface instead of soaking through to the seat underneath. Wipe it down at the end rather than shampooing the car.

Padded rather than a bare sheet — the point is that they will actually settle on it.

Questions people ask

Will it fit my car?

It is built for a standard car seat and folds out to 127 cm overall. If you drive something with unusually narrow seats, measure the seat width before ordering.

Does it actually stop water reaching the seat?

The outer is waterproof oxford, so rain and a wet coat sit on the surface. It is not a sealed tray — if a full bowl goes over and pools at a seam, get to it rather than leaving it.

Does it slide around?

The anchor strap is the part doing that work. Fit it properly rather than just laying the cover on the seat, or it will creep forward under braking.

Is this a hammock that hangs between the seats?

No, and the original listing was misleading on that point. It is a seat cover that folds down into the footwell, not a hammock slung from the headrests.

Sizing. Measure your pet nose to base of tail and compare with the measurements in the description. Breed names are a poor guide - two dogs of the same breed can be 4 kg apart.

Washing. Beds and blankets are machine washable unless the description says otherwise. Wash covers separately, warm not hot, and tumble dry low so the filling keeps its shape.

Introducing something new. Change food gradually over about a week, mixing an increasing share of the new food in. Put a new bed where the old one was rather than somewhere better.

Safety. Supervise play with plush and rope toys, and put wand toys away between sessions. No toy is indestructible.
