Stops the launch, not just the wander.

A restraint that clips between your dog’s harness and the car. The middle section is an elastic bungee, so a hard brake is absorbed over a few centimetres instead of stopping your dog dead against a webbing strap. Two in the pack.

Two ways to fix it

Seat belt buckle, or around the headrest

One end takes the seat belt tongue like an ordinary belt; the other loops around the headrest posts if your buckle is awkward to reach. Both are in the box.

The clip end swivels through 360° on a metal joint, which is what stops the strap winding into a rope every time your dog turns round.

The bungee

The part that does the work

A rigid strap transfers the whole stop straight into the harness. The elastic section stretches first and takes the peak out of it.

There is a reflective thread through the webbing, which is useful at the roadside when you unclip in the dark. It also works as a short lead from car to gate.

Questions people ask

Can I clip it to my dog's collar?

No. In a sudden stop the whole force goes through the neck. Always attach a car restraint to a harness. This is the single most important thing on this page.

Is this a crash-tested restraint?

No. It is a travel restraint that stops a dog moving around the car and adds a bungee buffer. It is not certified crash protection, and we are not going to tell you it is. For that, you want a crash-tested harness and carrier.

Why two in a pack?

Because most people who need one need two — a second car, a second dog, or a spare that lives in the boot.

Will it fit my car?

The seat belt end fits standard tongue buckles, and the headrest loop covers the rest. Between the two, most cars are covered.

Sizing. Measure your pet nose to base of tail and compare with the measurements in the description. Breed names are a poor guide - two dogs of the same breed can be 4 kg apart.

Washing. Beds and blankets are machine washable unless the description says otherwise. Wash covers separately, warm not hot, and tumble dry low so the filling keeps its shape.

Introducing something new. Change food gradually over about a week, mixing an increasing share of the new food in. Put a new bed where the old one was rather than somewhere better.

Safety. Supervise play with plush and rope toys, and put wand toys away between sessions. No toy is indestructible.
