Why a cave

A roof changes how they sleep

Cats settle faster when their back and head are covered. It is the same instinct that sends them into boxes, wardrobes and laundry baskets — an enclosed space means nothing can approach from behind.

The hood is stiff enough to hold its arch, so the mouth stays open and your cat can watch the room while staying tucked out of it.

Questions people ask

Which size should I get?

Go by weight rather than breed. Small suits kittens and cats under 3 kg, Medium suits cats and small dogs under 7 kg, and Large has enough floor for two cats to share. If your pet falls between two sizes, take the larger one.

Will it collapse after a few weeks?

The hood and walls are packed with high-resilience PP fibre, which springs back rather than compressing flat the way loose wadding does. The arch is built to stay standing so the entrance does not close up on your cat.

Will it slide around on hardwood floors?

No. The base is textured and non-slip, which keeps it planted even when a cat bolts out of the opening at speed.

How do I clean it?

Lift the inner cushion out and air it. Spot clean the shell with a cloth and a little mild detergent, then let it dry completely before your pet uses it again — a damp cave bed stays damp.

My cat ignores every new bed. Will they use this one?

Put it where they already sleep rather than where you would like them to sleep, and drop in a blanket that already smells of them. Covered beds tend to win a cat over faster than open ones, but give it a week.

Sizing. Measure your pet nose to base of tail and compare with the measurements in the description. Breed names are a poor guide - two dogs of the same breed can be 4 kg apart.

Washing. Beds and blankets are machine washable unless the description says otherwise. Wash covers separately, warm not hot, and tumble dry low so the filling keeps its shape.

Introducing something new. Change food gradually over about a week, mixing an increasing share of the new food in. Put a new bed where the old one was rather than somewhere better.

Safety. Supervise play with plush and rope toys, and put wand toys away between sessions. No toy is indestructible.
