Bath time

The bath is easier when the water comes out of the brush.

Washing a dog with one hand on a shower head and the other trying to work shampoo through a coat is a two-person job done by one person. This puts the water through the brush — so the hand that is scrubbing is also the hand that is rinsing, and the dog only has to stand still once.

How it works

Water through soft tips

The head is covered in soft tips that push through the coat while water comes out between them. You are massaging and rinsing in the same pass, which is what cuts the time down.

Held in the palm rather than by a handle, so you can keep a hand on the dog instead of gripping a shower hose.

In the box

A kit, not just a brush

Massage brush head, two extension nozzles, a 2.2 m hose, and the tap adapters that make the whole thing connect to a normal bathroom tap.

The extension nozzles are the part people forget they need — they get the water where the coat is thickest without soaking the room.

Before you order

Check your tap first

This is the one thing worth two minutes before buying. The kit comes with two adapters: a black threaded connector for taps where you can unscrew the aerator at the spout, and a universal screw connector for spouts up to 15 mm outside diameter.

Between them they cover most bathroom and laundry taps, but not all. If your spout is unusually wide or has a fixed filter that will not come off, measure before you order rather than after.

Where it lives

Bathroom, laundry, or a tub outside

It connects and disconnects at the tap in a few seconds, so it does not have to live plumbed in. Wash the dog, unclip it, put it back in the cupboard.

Small enough to be worth taking to a holiday house, which is usually where the muddy walks happen.

Good to know

Questions people ask

Will it fit my tap?

Two adapters are included. The black one screws on where the aerator normally sits, so you unscrew the front filter of the tap first. The universal one clamps onto spouts up to 15 mm outside diameter. If neither describes your tap, measure the spout before ordering — a tap that does not fit is the main reason these go back, and we would rather you check than guess.

Can I use it on an outdoor garden tap?

It is built for indoor taps. You will see one image in the gallery advertising a garden patio misting kit — that is a separate product from the same maker and it is not included here. We have left the image in place rather than quietly deleting it, but treat it as an advertisement, not a description of what arrives.

Is the brush head safe on a dog’s face?

The tips are soft and rounded, but use your hand rather than the brush around the eyes, ears and muzzle. That is good practice with any grooming brush, not a limitation of this one.

Does it work for cats?

For a cat that already accepts a bath, yes — the low pressure and the massage action are usually less alarming than a shower head. For a cat that does not, no tool is going to fix that.

How do I store it?

Let the hose drain and hang it rather than coiling it wet, or water sits in the loops. The adapters are small enough to lose, so keep them with the head.

Sizing. Measure your pet nose to base of tail and compare with the measurements in the description. Breed names are a poor guide - two dogs of the same breed can be 4 kg apart.

Washing. Beds and blankets are machine washable unless the description says otherwise. Wash covers separately, warm not hot, and tumble dry low so the filling keeps its shape.

Introducing something new. Change food gradually over about a week, mixing an increasing share of the new food in. Put a new bed where the old one was rather than somewhere better.

Safety. Supervise play with plush and rope toys, and put wand toys away between sessions. No toy is indestructible.
