Open-Top Self-Cleaning Litter Box: Radar Safety Sensor, App Control, Australian Plug
Regular price $308.00

Litter

No hood, no door — and it stops when a cat comes near.

An open-top drum that sifts the clumps out after your cat has gone and drops them into a drawer underneath. There is no enclosed cabin for a nervous cat to feel shut in, and a millimetre-wave radar plus a vibration sensor pause the cycle when a cat walks up or climbs in.

Read this before your cat's first visit. Automatic litter boxes have injured cats — mostly enclosed designs with doors that close. This one is open-topped and its sensors are built to stop the drum when a cat is near, but no sensor is infallible. For the first week, start each clean yourself while you are in the room, and do not leave young kittens alone with it until you have watched how it behaves.

How it cleans

A drum that sifts, a drawer that seals

After your cat has left, the drum turns. Clumped waste drops through the sieve into a pull-out drawer at the bottom, and clean litter settles back into the bowl. The drawer keeps the waste out of the room; line it with a bin bag and it empties in one go.

It needs a clumping litter — bentonite, tofu or a mix. Pellets and crystals do not clump, so there is nothing for the sieve to catch.

Safety

Radar, a vibration sensor, and no door

The radar watches the space around the box, so the drum pauses as a cat walks up — not only once it is inside. The vibration sensor catches movement in the bowl itself. Either one stops a cycle.

The open top matters as much as the sensors. There is no cabin and no door that swings shut, which is the kind of design most reported injuries have involved.

Control

From the app, or the button on the front

Pair it with the Tuya Smart app over Wi-Fi to start or stop a clean and see what it is doing from your phone. The button on the unit does the same without a phone — handy while your cat is still getting used to it.

Size and cleaning

Measure the corner first

It is 51 cm wide, 50 cm deep and 58 cm tall and weighs about 7.3 kg — closer to a small side table than a litter tray. It needs a power point within reach of the cable at the back.

Everything that touches litter comes apart without tools: the outer shell, the drum and the waste drawer lift away separately to be rinsed. Dry them fully before refilling; damp litter clumps inside the sieve.

Good to know

Questions people ask

Will my cat actually use it?

Most cats take to an open box faster than a hooded one. Leave it switched off for the first few days with their usual litter in it, and turn cleaning on once they are using it without a second thought.

Is it safe?

It is built to stop when a cat is near, and there is no door to close on anyone. That is not the same as a guarantee. Start cleans by hand for the first week while you watch, and if you ever see it keep moving with a cat in or at the box, stop using it and email us.

Can kittens use it?

Once they climb in and out easily, with you watching for the first week. Keep very small kittens on an ordinary tray until then.

What litter does it take?

Clumping litter: bentonite, tofu or a mixed clumping litter. Not pellets, crystals or paper — they do not form clumps for the sieve to lift out.

Does it need Wi-Fi?

Only for the app. The button on the front runs a clean without it.

What does the UV lamp do?

The maker fits a UV lamp that comes on after a clean. Some listings for this box claim it prevents urinary and gut infections; we have seen no evidence of that and are not going to repeat it. Treat the lamp as a small extra, not a reason to buy.

How often does the drawer need emptying?

It depends on how many cats you have and what they eat, and the maker gives no figure. Check it every day or two for the first week and you will know your household's rhythm.

What plug does it have?

An Australian plug. We only sell the Australian version.

Sizing. Measure your pet nose to base of tail and compare with the measurements in the description. Breed names are a poor guide - two dogs of the same breed can be 4 kg apart.

Washing. Beds and blankets are machine washable unless the description says otherwise. Wash covers separately, warm not hot, and tumble dry low so the filling keeps its shape.

Introducing something new. Change food gradually over about a week, mixing an increasing share of the new food in. Put a new bed where the old one was rather than somewhere better.

Safety. Supervise play with plush and rope toys, and put wand toys away between sessions. No toy is indestructible.
