Size Guide

Every listing carries its own measurements. This page explains how to use them.

Measuring your pet

  • Length: nose to base of tail, with the pet standing.
  • Weight: the most reliable single number. Weigh yourself, then yourself holding the pet, and subtract.
  • Girth: around the widest part of the chest, behind the front legs. Needed for anything worn.

Beds

A bed should be about 1.25x your pet's body length so they can stretch out. Cats and pets that curl to sleep can go closer to body length; dogs that sleep flat on their side need the extra room.

Size Pet weight Internal length
Small up to 10 lb / 4.5 kg about 20 in / 50 cm
Medium 10-18 lb / 4.5-8 kg about 24 in / 60 cm
Large 18-25 lb / 8-11 kg about 30 in / 75 cm

Bowls

Cats and flat-faced breeds do better with wide, shallow bowls that keep whiskers clear of the sides. Deep narrow bowls suit longer muzzles.
