It is a cape — there is no hat. Some listings for this style say “cloak and hat set”; what arrives is the cape with its collar and clasp.

Stands up on its own

The collar is reinforced, so it holds its bat-wing shape behind the head instead of flopping forward. That collar is what makes it read as a vampire rather than a cape.

A ribbon tie at the throat

A satin ribbon ties in a bow under the chin, with the cross clasp sitting on top. Tie it loose enough to slide two fingers underneath.

Does it come with a hat?

No. It is the cape, the collar and the clasp.

Will it fit my cat?

It is one size, made for cats, and the tie adjusts at the throat. The maker gives no measurements; for a very large cat, email us first. For a medium or large dog, see our 63 cm dog vampire cape instead.

Is the tie safe?

While you are there, yes. Anything tied at the throat can catch, so the cape comes off before your cat is left alone.

Will my cat actually wear it?

Some cats ignore a costume; others flatten themselves to the floor and refuse to move. Try it indoors for a minute with a treat before the day, and take it off if your cat stops moving. That is a no, not a pose.

Can my pet wear it all evening?

For photos and a short while, yes — but not unsupervised. A costume is dress-up, not clothing. Take it off if your pet pants, freezes, scratches at it or tries to reverse out of it, and never leave a pet alone in costume: straps and ties can snag.

Will it arrive before Halloween?

Delivery estimates show at checkout, and tracking is emailed as soon as the parcel ships. Costumes come from our supplier's warehouse, so give it time — ordering in the first half of October is the safe side of the date.

Returns. Unopened items can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund to your original payment method. Food and treats can only be returned unopened.

Sizing. Measure your pet nose to base of tail and compare with the measurements in the description. Breed names are a poor guide - two dogs of the same breed can be 4 kg apart.

Washing. Beds and blankets are machine washable unless the description says otherwise. Wash covers separately, warm not hot, and tumble dry low so the filling keeps its shape.

Introducing something new. Change food gradually over about a week, mixing an increasing share of the new food in. Put a new bed where the old one was rather than somewhere better.

Safety. Supervise play with plush and rope toys, and put wand toys away between sessions. No toy is indestructible.
